Majlis Kampung Laut

A unique and interesting structure, with a uniqueness that lies in the fact that it is a wooden structure raised and put together without a single nail. It was moved to Nilam Puri in the sixties,  as its original location is now at the bottom of Sungai Kelantan.

Kampung Laut Mosque is the oldest in Kelantan, and one of the oldest in the region, in fact. It was built in the 18th century by Muslim missionaries travelling between Champa and Java with the help of locals.

It was used by residents of Kampung Laut until 1966, before the floods of 66 and 67. In November 1967, the state government with the help of the Historical Society rebuilt the mosque at its new location in Nilam Pur, using as much material from the original structure as possible. In the end, only part of the main hall was erected.

A special committee has been tasked with returning Kampung Laut Mosque to its former glory.
